MSD Project Clear

From projectclearstl.org:

MSD Project Clear is a long-term effort by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD), undertaken as part of an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Missouri Coalition for the Environment. Project Clear aims to:
  • improve water quality for everyone.
  • solve problems for some of our customers created by the very nature and design of St. Louis’ wastewater system.
  • provide clear, up-to-date information to the public.
With significant investment comes a significant timeline. Though less visible than the work required to build the new Busch Stadium, or rebuild I-64, or build a new bridge, the work MSD is undertaking is equivalent to constructing 11 Busch Stadiums, rebuilding I-64 nine times, or erecting seven new Mississippi River bridges.

MSD Project Clear focuses on three categories of work: Get the rain out; Repair and maintain; and Build system improvements. Get the rain out focuses on preventing excess stormwater from entering the sewer system through a variety of project types, including downspout disconnections, and rainscaping. Repair and maintain continues the work MSD has done to repair, maintain, and renew the existing sewer system, on a faster timeline. Build system improvements involves new construction of wastewater management structures, including deep underground tunnels and above-ground storage tanks.

The easiest way you can prevent sewer overflows is to keep fats, oil and greases out of the sewer system. Click here for tips on how you can help.
